Anicca in Buddhism
Anicca means change, or impermanence. It is the nature of the world that everything is in flux, and eventually results in dissolution. The teachings say that everything arises and passes away. A mountain, a plastic bag in a landfill, a human life, a breath, the wish for a cup of coffee. They arise and pass away at different rates, from geologic to instantaneous. The Buddha asked why change should necessarily cause suffering; mindfulness is the path to the answer.
